Instagram-Style Restaurant App where you Swipe for Your Favorite Restaurants

Tastes

We developed and launched Tastes, a restaurant discovery app designed to make deciding where and what to eat more visual, intuitive, and engaging. Instead of beginning with restaurant names, ratings, or long lists, Tastes centered the discovery experience around the food itself — allowing users to browse compelling restaurant and dish imagery in a swipeable, social-style interface. The concept combined elements of social discovery, local search, and food delivery into a more consumer-friendly experience. Users could explore restaurants by cuisine, location, or visual preference, making restaurant discovery feel more like browsing content than searching a directory.
Core Features
Visual Restaurant Discovery: Tastes was built around an image-first experience where users could swipe through food and restaurant content in a format inspired by social media and dating-style discovery interfaces. Location & Cuisine Exploration: Users could discover options nearby or search other locations while filtering around the type of food they wanted — from pizza and sushi to specific dishes, cuisines, and dining experiences.

Technology and Commercialization

Automated Delivery Intelligence: Tastes incorporated custom API and data-scraping technology designed to identify where participating restaurants were available for delivery across third-party platforms, helping connect discovery with the next step in the customer journey. Discovery to Transaction: The broader vision was to reduce friction between seeing food a consumer wanted, discovering the restaurant behind it, and identifying how that meal could be ordered or accessed — creating a more seamless bridge between inspiration and transaction.
Portfolio Outcome
Tastes demonstrated our ability to identify an everyday consumer behavior, redesign the experience around a more intuitive interface, and combine front-end product design with underlying data and integration technology to create a differentiated mobile application. The Tastes application was ultimately sold, making it another portfolio example of our ability to move from concept through product development and commercialization to a transferable technology asset. The venture reflects the broader Jarbly Venture Labs approach: build something differentiated, validate the product, create strategic value, and position the asset for partnership or acquisition.
