When we developed
Tastes, our restaurant discovery app, we wanted to make ordering food more convenient.
A user could discover a restaurant inside Tastes—but what happened when they wanted delivery?
Restaurants could be available through different delivery platforms. Making the customer leave the app, search for the restaurant again, determine which delivery service carried it, and then find the correct listing created unnecessary friction.
So we built technology to help solve it.
Our system gathered and mapped delivery-platform information to restaurants inside the Tastes ecosystem.
When a user found a restaurant and wanted delivery, Tastes could direct them toward the appropriate delivery option.
The underlying scraper/API functionality wasn’t necessarily something the customer thought about.
They just knew the app was more convenient.
